EAA Illini Chapter 29 will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary with a fly-in/drive-in luncheon on October 7. Please mark your calendars now and plan to commemorate this historic milestone with us. The event is being held rain or shine at Frasca Field Airport (C16) in Urbana, IL, and will run from 11:00 am-2:00 pm. There will be plenty of aircraft parking space. Food will be served by Manzella’s Italian Patio in Champaign at noon. A program will be held at 12:30 pm at which some of the milestones of Chapter 29 will be highlighted. We will also be hearing remarks from EAA representatives Sean Elliott, VP for Safety and Advocacy; and John Egan, Chapters Director. Special recognition will be given to recognize long-time aviators in Champaign County, as well as Chapter 29 Young Eagles volunteers.
A suggested donation of $8.00 per person will be accepted, with all proceeds going towards the Nati Niv Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be used to send one or more students to the EAA Air Academy next summer and on a recurring basis thereafter. Nati Niv was a loyal and active Chapter 29 member who passed away very unexpectedly earlier this year.
A 50/50 raffle will also be held, again with proceeds going towards the scholarship fund.
Please share this with all your aviation friends and encourage them to attend! We are looking forward to a gala celebration, and hope to see you there. For additional information, contact Bob Coverdill, President, EAA Illini Chapter 29, at email@example.com.
Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend our events and join our chapter. We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. Please come to our next meeting or event as our guest.
We meet on the first Thursday of the month. Typically in years past this has been in the Q-3 classroom at Willard Airport. This year most of our meetings will be off-site (e.g.) hosted by a member to show a project-in-progress. Please check the calendar for the most recent information.
Free airplane rides for kids 8 - 17 years old!
